Grade 4 Opportunity - STRINGS PROGRAM
Today, Mrs. Zahir visited our classroom.  As part of the District's music program, Mrs. Zahir teaches strings (violin/cello) twice weekly, during school session, to student who choose to participate.  There is no cost to families for Mrs. Zahir's instruction.  Students are expected to rent instruments (Long & McQuade), purchase a method book (music book), practise nightly (20 minutes), as well as show up prepared for classes (instruments & method book).

There will be several concerts throughout the year for family members to enjoy.  If your family is interested in having your child participate in the Strings Program, please return the Strings Permission Slip to Ms. Pawliuk as soon as possible.  Please go to Long and McQuade with your child to have them sized for rental.  We are anticipating sessions starting near the end of September.  Days of instruction will be posted when Mrs. Zahir's schedule is confirmed.

SPELLING - SKILLS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS - STUDY TIPS
In your child’s agenda is their spelling list for this week. Encourage him or her to practise the words in one or more of these ways:
1 . Read and spell each word. Cover it up and write it. Uncover the word and check.   We call this study strategy RCRC (Read, Cover, Recite, Check).
to see if it is correct.
2. Find the words on the spelling list in printed materials such as books
and magazines.
3. Read a word aloud and ask your child to spell it (either aloud or written
on paper).
Thank you for your support of our spelling program.

Water Bottles
I encourage all students to bring a water bottle to school each day to keep well hydrated, which is essential for learning.  If possible, include a bottle with a 'pop lid' to prevent accidents.

Have a great night!  See you tomorrow.  Ms. P.
