Cinco de Mayo Celebration 

This year as part of our Social Studies Units Our World, Our Cultures we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a 'Taco Tuesday' pot luck luncheon.  Each child has been asked to supply a small amount food or flatware as a contribution.  Tomorrow your child will bring home a paper letter with their choice of contribution as well as the amount of food to bring.  Thank you for your support in helping us to have fun with our friends!  If you would like to help us with set up and join in the celebration, please let me know!!

We present to family members for the last time tonight.   Students will be asked to come no earlier than 6:30 pm, when doors open.  Students should come through the regular exterior doors to the classroom.  Our song is one of the first presentations, so we encourage students to come on time so as to be ready.

Parents are encourage to come around 6:30.  Thanks for your preparedness  in making sure your child has and knows your family's  plan for pick up (classroom, or meeting at a younger family member's class).  Please ensure that your child knows your expectations.  The school will be busy and I want to ensure a safe and calm night for you and your family.

1:00 pm Dress Rehearsal Tomorrow:  
Tomorrow students will have their second 'full' dress rehearsal.  They will wear their costumes and have the opportunity to see cast #2 present the play.  This is a fantastic opportunity for students to see the play.

Thank you to Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Nessman, who came in today to work with students.  Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Nessman led students in a water filtration experiment as part of our Air, Soil, and Water unit.  Students were involved in building and testing filters to see how successful they could be in cleaning water.   We appreciate their time and energy in our room.  Thank you for choosing to spend time with us!

Thank you to Mrs. Tawhid, who came in yesterday to work with students.  Mrs. Tawhid led students in a seed experiment that is part of our Air, Soil, and Water unit.  Students dissected, examined, and learned the three main parts of a seed.  We appreciate Mrs. Tawhid's time.  Thank you for choosing to spend time with us!

 

In Language Arts, students are learning how to identify fiction and non-fiction information through our reading selections.  These reading integrate our science theme once again.  Please ask your child what they remember!
